By the end of this week you will be able to define and distinguish all types of matter as well as explain where they can be found and how we can get them to change states.  You'll also be creating a collage to represent the four states, of which I'm sure you will do a great job!

We will have a weekly content test this Friday!

September 3rd - September 6th

Since this is a short week we will be finishing up International System of Units with a Video Project and if time permits, a lab that will incorporate volume and length  to see if School Paper towels really do suck. (pun intended) . The video project will take the place of this weeks content test and is an excellent opportunity to add to your science grade!

Metric Video Project

Working with a partner, your group will write, direct and produce a learning video to post on your “youtube” channel.  Your group will choose one of the metric tools that we have learned about (metric ruler, triple beam balance, or graduated cylinder) and create a 2 minute video showing youtube viewers what it is and how it works.  Be sure to follow all instructions below.

A written script and a camera script MUST be submitted before you record your video.  Be sure that you have all props ready when it is time to record.  Practice your script so that it flows easily when recording.  Both people in the group should be comfortable saying the script.  If your partner is absent on Thursday, I will designate someone to record your video, using your camera script as a guide.

Written script should include…

- what is being said and who is saying it.

- introduce yourself and your measuring equipment,

- tell what it is used to measure

- how to properly use the equipment

- include an example of a practical application of how this equipment would be used in the real world

Camera Script should include…

- location of video (background)

- when to zoom in or out on person or objects

- any props that are necessary for video

You will be given three days to write, edit and practice your script.  Videos will be recorded and edited on Friday.  All videos are due at the end of class on Friday.

**This project will take the place of the WCT for this week.  As always, do your best!

Please take a look at the Rubric so you have an idea of how you will be graded

August 26th - August 30th

*Please don't forget to be keeping up with your interactive Digital Notebook*

You will have a weekly content test this Friday 8/30 Material covered includes will be international system of units and being able to correctly read metric rulers, graduated cylinders and Triple Beam Balances as well as convert metric units.

Here's a link to the jeopardy Review we played in class today that you can use to study.  DOn't forget your up to date digital notebook is worth a bonus 10 points.

August 19th - 23rd

After finishing experimental design we will take a little time to identify mainly independent and dependent variables as well as other aspects of controlled experiments before moving on to studying the international system of units and why its needed.  We will practice converting between units as well as deciding what units to use.  Please make sure you have signed up for Remind text @taylorscg to 801010 You will have a weekly content test this Friday 8/23 Material covered includes observation & inferences, scientific method and all vocabulary associated with designing experiments.  You should be able to identify independent and dependent variables, constants, control/control group and conclusions.
